Digital Classes led by The National Digital Equity Center
The National Digital Equity Center (NDEC) and the Somerset Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) presented our first digital class on Wednesday, September 11th. The topic was Using Facebook Securely. It was very informative, easy to follow, and all-in-all a pleasant, relaxed and successful experience.
In-person classes take place in the library's new Remote Workspace and Meeting Room. They are one hour in length and you must register once with NDEC and then again to reserve your spot in advance of any class. The next class topic will be Microsoft Word - Intermediate. Date and time TBD.
For more information and to register, please visit their website:
https://digitalequitycenter.org/classes/class/using-facebook-securely/?instance_id=5024
All classes are free to Maine residents. ($50 annual fee for non-residents.)
Please see Mary in the library to pre-register, if you have trouble registering online with NDEC, or have any questions, requests, special needs or concerns.

Virtual Storytime with Kim Dawes
The delightfully entertaining Mrs. Dawes of Belgrade Public Library reads one or two children's picture books aloud, followed by a demonstration of a simple craft. The stories are themed around upcoming holidays or seasonal events and changes. Bring your children to the library whenever we are open if you are interested in participating in this program. It lasts about 30 minutes and there is no charge, of course.
--------------------------------------------------------
Pickleball
Lessons, equipment, a regulation sized court and players are ready to go. This is an addictive court sport for all ages that is roughly a blend of ping-pong, tennis and badminton. Clinics and regular games occur on a first come, first serve basis arranged in advance through the library. It's free of charge for residents of Mercer; $2 for non-residents. Inquire in the library to register and schedule.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday Shaw Social
Join us for a cordial, informal weekly gathering featuring a homemade confection (maybe even a recipe swap), a cuppa (tea or coffee), and conversation (sometimes even about books). This little group gathers between Noon and 1pm on Saturdays.
(Pssst - Well-behaved dogs are encouraged to accompany their well-behaved pet parents.)
We hope that you will join us!!
